DBMailer Discussion List Features
Easy-to-use
listowner web interface
Click
here to see
an example of the DBMailer discussion listowner interface in a new
window.
Add and remove subscribers, edit
confirmation and welcome messages via a straightforward web
interface.
Owner-defined welcome
and farewell messages
New
subscribers are sent a welcome message. Those who chose to
unsubscribe are sent a
farewell message. Both messages can be fully customized or they
can be eliminated if you prefer.
"Confirmed
opt-in" subscription process
The
initial subscription request generates a confirmation email. The
potential subscriber must reply to that message to confirm the
subscription. Click here
for a description why this is required and desirable.
For private discussion lists, you may choose to not publish any subscription instructions but add subscribers only via the listowner web interface.
Digest Included
A digest is a single daily message including all posts from the previous day. Subscribers can switch to/from digest mode at any time.
This is a standard feature of DBMailer discussion lists.
List headers in your domain
Simply create email aliases which point to addresses on our server, and all visible, published addresses can be in your domain name.
References to DataBack are then only found in the (normally
invisible) full message "Received" headers. Add a "Reply-To" header if you want to force replies back to the discussion list.
Optional settings
Posts are accepted only from subscribers or other specially authorized addresses. This prevents most spam from reaching your list.
Subscription interface
for your web site
Add
a simple signup form to your web site easily. Instructions for
installing a signup form on your web site can be found here.
More complicated subscription forms can also be supported via
custom scripts.
Automatic bounce
handling
Bounces
(undeliverable messages) are returned to our server after each
mailing, not to you. When an address bounces for two days in a
row, it's
automatically removed. Removed addresses are reported in the daily
report.
Optional "demime" filter
Optional ($10/month extra): Filter all posts to remove formatting and
attachments, converting them to text-only. Makes digest readable and makes all messages readable by all subscribers regardless of email programs used.
Easy
unsubscribe
A
subscriber
writes to a list-specific "leave-" address to be
automatically unsubscribed. The farewell message is sent to
confirm the subscriber's removal from the list.
Affordable
DBMailer discussion list service is $15.00/month
for each 100 subscribers. Invoices
are sent via email quarterly in advance. There are no setup
charges and no minimum terms or agreements required. For
discussion lists, DBMailer is a quarter-to-quarter service.
