We do use and recommend AVG Anti-Virus. It is one of the most popular AV products, especially the free edition. However AVG Free Edition has one annoying feature: by default it adds a footer like this to every message you receive:

Most AVG Free Edition users never discover that you can disable this. Here is how:
1. Open the AVG Control Center.
2. Double-click "Email Scanner".
3. On the Plugins tab, click Configure.
4. Under Email Scanning, uncheck "Certify mail" under Check incoming mail.
5. If you also scan outgoing mail, uncheck "Certify mail" there as well, to avoid having the footer added to messages you SEND.
