DBMailer list owners receive a daily report by email containing statistics about their list. This is an example of a daily report for a discussion list:

Normally a report is sent every day, even when there has been no change or activity on the list. List owners may request that reports be suspended completely, or request that they be sent only when there is activity on the list (and on the 1st day of the month regardless).
Activity is defined as a new subscriber added, a subscriber leaving, a message posted, etc.
One caveat: "activity" also includes a new subscriber being sent a confirmation message. But if that potential new subscriber does not respond and complete the subscription, he won't be listed as a new subscriber in the daily report. In other words, it is possible that the list owner might request to receive only "activity" reports, but then occasionally get one which shows no activity, because a confirmation was sent without a response.
Large daily reports (containing more than a hundred or so email addresses) will also have a summary section at the top.
