For our first Student Night in years
we had a great turn out. Forty-eight Ferris students from varying fields attended.
Thank you to our three speakers who gave very practical advice with intermittent
humor. Sue Hoff from Amway started the evening off with a discussion on persistence
to get the job you want and the importance of networking through technical societies.
Ed Fairman , a retired consultant, emphasized that there are a wide range of industries
and occupations out there to pursue. He gave a summary of his various careers
ranging from working as a lab technician to aerospace to uranium processing. Debbie
Aliya from Aliya Analytical wrapped up the evening stressing the importance of
engineering new product designs and discussing failure analysis. Several students
stayed after the meeting to ask a few questions and get contact information for
projects they were working on. Thank you Blaine Danley and Charlotte Howard-Holland
for coordinating this meeting for us.
